HAUGEN CHARITIESHaugen's is very commited to giving back to our community. One of Miriam's many passions is to help children which is why we are proud to support Operation Backpack and Boys & Girls Club of Corvallis through our annual Magical Ages of Childhood Portrait Contest. Operation Backpack is a charity created by The Willamette Valley Auxilary, an extension of The Assistance League of Salem. Donations are used to buy school supplies for children who would otherwise go without. The Boys & Girls Club of Corvallis has a Mission Statement that says it all: To help young people, especially those who need us most, reach their full potential as productive, responsible, caring citizens. Our annual Children's Contest is held every March- April. The $25 entry fee will cover your session fee and will be a donation to one of these great organization. All entries fees collected throughout March will be donated to Operation Backpack, thoughtout the month of April they will be donated to The Boys & Girls Club of Corvallis. Awards and Prizes There are two ways to win! The winner of the Artistic Merit Award will be determined by a panel of professional photographers. They will be judging the portraits for impact, creativity and story telling qualities. The winner of the People's Choice Award is completely determined by you, the participants of the contest. Once you have decided on the portrait you want to enter into the contest you will be able to collect "votes" in the form of donations. The more donations you collect the better chance you have of winning this award and the prizes that come along with it. Plus, you will be collecting donations for a great cause. Winners from each catagory will receive a 20x24 inch wall portrait as well as a $100 savings bond. We start taking reservations every February.
